Fill the rock base with clean water, add a few drops of essential oil if you want scent, and press the button on the base. An ultrasonic plate turns the water into a cool mist that streams out through the horse’s nostrils, while a white LED lights the plume from below. There is no heat and no flame — the mist is cool to the touch.

Yes. Add a few drops to the water in the base and the mist carries the scent. Water-soluble and standard essential oils are fine. Rinse the base when you switch between scents.

The mist is cool, not steam, so there is nothing hot to touch and no risk of a scald. There is no open flame and no heating element. As with any water appliance, keep the cable out of reach and set it somewhere it will not be knocked off.
